TRVs - Are they all the same quality?
This post replaces one I did earlier that I can no longer find so bear witth me if you've read this before.
I have one trv that has started disconnecting for hours on end after having previously been fairly good (odd very short disconnects, say one per week before, lasting minutes only)
Three days ago this TRV disconnected and without my knowing kept the heating going all night. Since then it has been off for most of the time coming on occasionally for short periods.
This is sited about 40ft from the bridge in a straight line and through 2 doors with no other obstructions. (we're a long bungalow). It is only 40 days old and the batteries are showing as "good"
Now here's the thing: It's not the furthest trv from the bridge. There is another trv 15ft further in the same direction in another room at 90 degrees from the straight line this one is on and through 3 doors. This farthest one behaves quite well. Hence my question about variable quality.

They should be.
Try swapping the TRVs to establish if the issue is with the TRV or the location in your house

They of couse should be but are people finding some worse than others?

So now I get the email saying its batteries need replacing, really? after only one month old

It could be an error. A number of folk on here got low battery messages around 2/11 which then went away
However, since you're already having connection issues, there may be something about your house causing the TRVs to have to work a lot harder to maintain the connection. This will use more battery power. If this is going to continue, you would be better to switch to rechargeable batteries. Panasonic Eneloop are known to fit OK as many other rechargeables are slightly wider
Have you tried swapping the TRV heads as I suggested?

Check the radiator valve pins. Good squirt of WD40 and press them down and make sure they come back up a few times. They stick. Even the ones that are sold as non stick still do somehow. It's very annoying. Sticky pins make them chew through batteries far faster.

I checked the batteries with a multimeter and they are good. Both are 1.5V
Reinserting them a couple of times did nothing.
Put in new batteries and now reading as "Good"
Replaced new batteries with originals and they still read "Good" and are now working away.
This is exactly the same as happened 2 weeks ago on another TRV after only 25 days usage. (See thread "False Low Battery" thread.

@GrayDav4276 I have noticed that a significant number of those experiencing these false low battery issues have joined this forum fairly recently. That, of course, does not necessarily imply recent adopters of tado and therefore purchasers from same equipment batches but it has made me wonder??

@GrayDav4276 In my case (only 5 weeks since installing Tado) my problems have not just been notifications, the 2 trvs have started to show low battery before the email and then have actually stopped working, so unless tado are telling them to shut down I would assume that the trvs are somehow at fault. And in both cases they are working again using the original batteries.

Best not to change the batteries until you know they're dead. I don't know why it's taken me to put in new batteries for the old ones to be recognised as good again.

It’s weird to me that no one is worried about the heating being switched on all night, due to the disconnected TRV. It’s burning money.
It makes me nervous to know Tado equipment is risky like this.0 -

The issue is that Tado is 'not crap enough' to dump, and nothing better gets made as tado is already here and covers 80% of what people want and the last 20% is different for everyone: I want to homebrew my own logic locally, and just want acces to the hardware on a low level; someone else wants more smart function; third guy wants a red thermostat etc. etc.0

There is a lot that I like about the system but if I had known that running my heating would be dependant upon somebody else's server in the cloud I wouldn't have touched it with a bargepole.
I like to be in control of my own house and what goes in it. I believe with the right products I am capable of running things to the best I can get out of them. I previously had a Nest stat. No way would I let that produce a smart schedule for me. I know what I want. Similarly I don't need tado to tell me when to change batteries etc. I wouldn't buy a toilet that only worked when a cloud based server was sure i had enough toilet paper.
On another tack, once we have given Tado our money in the form of initial purchases, what incentive do they have to keep supporting them unless we pay monthly? which I will never do. What if Tado is no longer there or finds we non subscribers are just a drain?
