Why is there no hot water options offered in App

I’m new to Tado and have found it extremely frustrating having acquired it in my new home from the previous owners, who not only deleted the app without inviting me but also took the Internet Bridge leaving me to buy a new one! Having finally set it up I can’t see any option anywhere in the App to control hot water? It’s a wired receiver so is this a wiring config issue, as surely if the previous owner was controlling hot water via Tado it should already be configured correctly so I should be able to?

  • What kind of boiler system do you have? If it’s a system boiler, is there a separate hot water programmer?
  • It’s a Glow Worm Energy7 18r. There’s also a solar water heater which only heats to luke warm but I think does have some impact on how the system works?

Is it a combi or is it a system boiler? If it’s a combi wired via relay you won’t have any control over the hot water in the Tado app.

You have to wire Tado (digital pins) on the eBUS connector of your system.

"7.10.6 Connecting controls to the electronics" from the manual https://www.glow-worm.co.uk/glow-worm/product-manuals/energy-3/regular-5/energy7-regular-installation-instructions-2339946.pdf

  • Thanks. I’ve got an engineer coming round on Sunday to help. I just would have thought this was already set up by my the previous occupants so wouldn’t need doing again?
  • Like I said, if it’s a combi installed on relay Tado won’t control the water. If it’s a system boiler then it should. The solar heater won’t have an impact but does the boiler heat the tank as well?
  • It isn’t a combi. The boiler isn’t heating the tank at all. I’m sure on the Tado website I’ve seen the option of a hot water schedule but that doesn’t even appear in my app?
  • Get the engineer to try to work out what kind of hot water system you have and whether the Tado is wired to it or whether there’s another programmer somewhere. It’s likely to be an s or y plan. Instructions on how to configure the wireless receiver below (section 6).

  • It’s literally just fixed as we speak! Apparently the Wireless Temperature Sensor had lost the Hot Water setting and needed to be re enabled in the control menu. It must have been when it lost power or lost connection due to the previous owner taking the bridge. Hot Water now shows up in the App and it’s all fully working now. Thanks for your efforts!
  • Hope you're seeking some compensation from the previous owners. They left you with a non-functioning heating system which you've had to have resolved at cost to you

  • I wish! Sadly the husband died about 6 weeks before we moved in and the wife just said ‘I don’t know, he did all of that’ 🤷🏻‍♂️ Cost me a small fortune in getting it up and running and buying the missing part but I’m there now, so I’ll consider the energy company’s £66 rebate every month as paying for it!
