TRV calling for heat

I have two wired smart thermostats installed, one for radiators and one controlling under floor heating. On my Horstmann controller I leave those two channels set to on, so both heat channels are controlled by the tado smart stats.

I’m adding some smart radiator valves and have a question - how do these call for heat? I assume they connect to a smart thermostat but I can’t see a setting in the app to check that. If that is how the system works I want to pair the TRVs with the radiator stat and not the under floor one. TIA.

On installing each TRV you assign a zone controller in the room settings. The zone controller you assign is the radiator thermostat.

  • I thought this was the case, but I don’t see a zone control option in the screen when clicking the name of the room. I see room, child lock, orientation and instructions. I must be missing something…

  • I think you're clicking on the device ID rather than clicking on the room name. Zone controller should be the last option, after dazzle mode.

  • Yes, it’s not there. The last message on this thread seems to be the same behaviour.

  • This content has been removed.
  • I’ve installed one so far so it should be an option. I actually installed two but removed one when testing in an attempt to resolve the issue. Seems that it affects systems with two wired stats. I’ll have to contact support unfortunately.

  • @Loobar I know some users have a problem with missing zone controller IDs, but to the best of my knowledge the menu still appears, it's just that the option list is incomplete.

  • Tado support have now made the change to add the zone controllers and all is good.
