UK Modulating Boilers with Tado

Hello

I'm in the UK. My boiler has reached the end of its life and needs replacement. The replacement will almost certainly be heat only, working with a hot water cylinder.

I am quite invested in Tado, with a v2 extension kit, wireless thermostat and lots of smart radiator valves.

I'd quite like to get a boiler which will support digital modulation with Tado. Am I right in thinking that, these days, this needs an OpenTherm boiler? Is it right that Tado supported older Worcester Bosch and Vaillant boilers but probably does not support modern ones available now?

Thanks!

Best to check with customer services to be absolutely sure, but there's certainly some uncertainty as to which of the newer Worcester Bosch and Vaillant boilers are supported via digital connection. My Baxi 830 works well using OpenTherm

If you’re using a system boiler it’s largely academic whether or not it supports Opentherm because it won’t work with an s or y plan system.

However, if you can find a plumber who knows what they’re doing and can fit an x plan / hot water priority system you should still be able to use a digital connection. Tado supports a wide range of digital bus connections but as has been said, there are some exceptions.

Baxi, Viessmann, ideal and intergas all have Opentherm connections, as far as I’m aware (but I’m not sure if they can all do priority domestic hot water).
