Setup Tado smart ac control v3+ without original IR remote?

I'm thinking of buying a Tado smart ac control v3+ for a duct system mounted in the ceiling. The brand is Haier, currently controlled via a wired remote on the wall. The wired remote has an IR-eye but I dont have any IR-remote.
From what I've read it seems like I need an IR remote to configure the Tado?
Will I not be able to set it up an choose the pump in the gui?
