Temperature variation between thromostat and room
My thermostat says 20,4 degrees. 2-3 meters away, I have put a thermometer (different brand) that reads 18,7 degrees. Isn't that an unusual variation? My thermometer is set by the window, so that might affect the temperature a bit. My radiators are also by my windows, but under.
I have a similar setup in another room. Here the variation between thermostat and thermometer is 1,4 degrees Celsius.
Any suggestions? I have thought of turning up the radiator to get the overall room temperature up. I just don't like that there's such a variation only a few meters away.

You’ll need to describe if this is TRV temperature measure or a room thermostat measure. If it’s the TRV, a large radiator or proximity to furniture can affect the reported temperatures. We have two rooms/rads/TRV that have to use the offset to arrive at the correct room temperature when heating. That said, the TRVs consistently report low temperatures when not heated.

I use a hand held laser type temperature reader and can tell accurate temperature anywhere in the room. On starting up there is a significant difference between the room and the trvs but after a period they both read pretty much the same.

I have tried Google, but not sure what a trv is. I can only see the Temperature on the Tado thermostat (via the app) and my thermometers 2-3 meters away (different brand). I woke up at 5 am today and saw a difference of 2,6 degrees Celsius!
I think I will try to place my thermometer away from the windows tonight to see if part of the difference is due to bad window isolation.
Any other thoughts?0 -
@Happy_bob12 RTV = radiator thermostat vale. The problem with RTVs is that they are located very close to heat source (radiator) hence are vulnerable to wrong readings. Some users therefore use Temperature Offset to compensate.
Use a 3rd party device to get the most accurate reading and do the necessary adjustments to your system?
I think that the real inside temperature is higher/lower than what tado° is showing. What can I do?

Due to conduction, don't mount any type of thermostat on an exterior wall. There's a temperature difference between the room and the outside which means the inner surface of an exterior wall will not be the same temperature as the centre of the room. Better to mount a thermostat on an interior wall.
Also don't mount a thermostat near a window or radiator. The convection of cool or warm air over the thermostat will give a temperature that is different to the centre of the room.
A thermostatic radiator valve will be affected by both conduction and convection of heat. Obviously you cannot move one of these, so an offset is may be required to attain a temperature reading that reflects the air temperature in the centre of the room
