Can I place the receiver where my existing wired thermostat is? Instead of next to the boiler.

Then have my wireless thermostat anywhere?

  • What kind of boiler do you have? If it's a combi then yes, provided the wireless receiver is in range of the bridge. If you want to control hot water you may need it closer to the tank, depending on the wiring.

  • Hi and thank you.

my existing thermostat is a horstman Centaurastat 7. I have had a look behind it and there are mains.

the location is within 1 metre of my router. My router also has a USB port.

i assume the wiring from my existing stat is the way my boiler is switched on when the stat demands heat.

the boiler is a Bosch Greenstar 48cdi combination boiler.

i assume the radio thermostat is battery powered and hence portable?

    any further advice appreciated,

    regards,

  • Sounds like it should be fine. Tado thermostats and wireless temperature sensors are battery powered, wireless receivers are mains.
  • Hi and thank you again.
I'll try and find a bit more info on the wiring of the receiver a d the. Decide which kit to purchase
    (wired or radio).
Hopefully if the receiver goes where my existing stat is(hallway) I can take the radio tado stat into my living room( I am a bit worried about mdoing any wiring in the boiler cabinet)

  • Make sure you get the terminology right - if you install the wireless receiver, you want the wireless temperature sensor, not the thermostat, which has physical connections and costs more.

  • Thank you very much, I will have a look at what’s available. I think Screwfix has an offer on but think the reduced one has a black screen but not sure yet if that’s the one that I may buy.

    thanks again and appreciated,

  • I'm hoping I can do the same, I have Drayton Sts1 thermostat and a Worcester Bosch Greenstar boiler
