Tado wireless controller to Worcester Greenstar 25si combi wiring

Morning all

Purchased my Tado starter kit with wireless stat and wireless controller over the weekend. Fitted the stat and bridge with no issues but slightly confused with the connection between by controller and boiler.

Using the supplied cable, i have wired the brown live to the live s output of the boiler, the blue neutral to the neutral s supply of the boiler and the grey trigger wire to the boilers live return. As i understand it the black common cable is not used ?

Is the black unused and do i need to bridge any terminals to complete the connections ?

Thanks for any help that can be offered.

Mike

Tado will give you custom instructions when you do the install. Unless you know exactly what you’re doing you’re much better off getting these.

All sorted now. Not the easiest process with tech support but we got there in the end.

The connection involves bridging two terminals in the controller and the black cable remains unused.

  • Hi
Did you get anything from Tado?
I am about to install the extension kit but I can’t find clear instructions.

The older model of this boiler we have in a family home was straightforward to connect and wire in the wireless receiver. However, there are several models and optional controls. Best to be patient for Tado and custom instructions.

  • Would it be possible for you to share directions from Tado, I have a Worcester Greenstar 25si but can't seem to find a way to get in touch. I keep getting pushed from chat bot to FAQ guide to chat bot. Very frustrating

@krisswilliams Hello Kriss. Our rellie has a Greenstar boiler, which was striaghtforward to install Tado simply by replacing the wall thermostat. For users to help, a lot more information will be needed about your heating system. Is this a new Tado installation and what controls are you replacing? Or a problem with an existing Tado system?

Can you describe your current installation? And the problem or issue you are encountering? Thank you.

  • Thanks, we have moved into a new property. The boiler was already installed. It has the wireless woster RF module installed, what looks like the LP20RF Dual Channel Programmer & Digistat+ RF . I want to add new tado thermostat solution. I have purchased a V3+ black edition with hot water control package.
  • @wateroakley any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
  • Kisswilliams, if your replacing your Worcester boiler controller rf, you need to disconnect the digistat by removing the ribbon cable behind the interface, for it to work will the tado.
  • Ok thanks, yes the plan is to replace the wireless RF thermostat. And fully use the tafo
  • Hi everybody.
I have a greenstar 30CDI combo boiler fitted with a Drayton LP20RF wireless thermostat.
I want to upgrade to the Tado and have purchased the V3+ starter kit.
Can anybody help me with boiler specific instructions (wiring the new receiver and also what to do with the existing receiver).
    Any help much appreciated.
    Regards paul

Hi. Hope you've been in touch with Tado on this because it seems there are at least 8 separate versions of this, as @wateroakley stated.
    Some question.
    1. Do you have the exact model number and year? The reason why is that the LP20RF has a digital link and we need to get this right.
    2. The Greenstar series used two different protocols, one which Tado called the HT BUS, and which Worcester call the EMS BUS. Is the Drayton fixed in the boiler's base, bottom centre, or is it fitted to a Greenstar wiring centre, on on the wall?
    3. It is likely that you'll be able to use the digital connection and get an efficient central heating system. Frankly it would be better to start a new thread because the 25cdi isn't quite the same as the 30cdi series.

@krisswilliams Hello Kris. Sorry just seen your @wateroakley question. We simply connected the CH COM and NO on the Tado wireless receiver into the wiring for an ancient room stat. Have you got sorted with your installation ?
