Wireless Temperature Sensor - Redundant if SRTs on each radiator?
Hi folks,
I just had a Tado system installed, and now have Smart Radiator Thermostats attached to all the radiators in my house. Each radiator is in a different physical room, and each SRT is assigned to a different room in the app.
The starter kit came with a Wireless Temperature Sensor. From the way my installer described it, it sounded like this would act as a master control for the whole house, and that it needed to be set to a non-off temperature for the individual radiator thermostats to function. However, this doesn't seem to be the case - I'm finding that I can set temperatures on the individual radiators from the app (or manually) and they will fire up the boiler & heat up, even if the Wireless Temperature Sensor is set to 'off'.
It does seem like it would be useful to have some sort of master control... What happens if the internet goes down and I need to turn everything on/off manually - I don't really want to be running around the house setting each individual radiator on/off. I'd much rather the system reverted to acting like a dumb heating system and I could just set temperatures on each radiator and then flick the whole system on/off as needed.
So yeah, is there any point to the Wireless Temperature Sensor if I have SRTs on each radiator? And can I configure the system somehow so that radiators thermostats can have a temperature set on them but don't actually activate the boiler until some master on/off signal is raised?
Thanks!

Your installer has got it wrong. If every radiator has an SRT then a central thermostat will have no real function. I suggest you group the wireless thermostat with an SRT so it becomes the temperature sensor for one of your rooms. This will give you more accurate temperature control as the wireless thermostat will be a distance from the radiator. In the app you need to move the chosen SRT and wireless thermostat into the same room.
If you want some SRTs to operate without activating the boiler then you need to set the Zone Controller to Independent mode. At the moment I assume the Zone Controller is the wireless receiver.
