How to call for heating without having hot water/boiler enabled?
Hi there,
I was wondering how to get my Tado to call for heating without having to enable hot water and the boiler, as is the case for me currently?
As I'm trying to reduce costs and household emissions, my plan over Autumn and winter is to use the immersion heater in the hot water cylinder overnight, when we get a cheaper electricity price, and use that as much as we can for our hot water needs but currently I can't see how I can get heating without also calling for water, and in turn firing up the boiler.
Judging from others discussions on here, it seems as though being able to call for heating independently seems to be a bit of an issue.
Thank you in advance for your help.

What do you want tado to call for heating from, if not the boiler? You need the boiler on to circulate the hot water, unless I’m missing something.0

Thank you for your response.
I was under the impression that by calling for heating I would be able utilise the hot water stored in the cylinder, rather needing to use the boiler directly? If not, the hot cylinder seems a tad redundant

I don’t know your specific set up but most hot water tanks I’ve seen are for hot water use, with a valve between the tank and boiler that either sends hot water to the tank or to the rads. Yours may be different. Unless you have a separate pump you will need the boiler to pump water to the rads anyway.1
