Wired thermostat live switch for UFH connection to boiler

Hey! I have set up a wired thermostat as a live switch for 2 mechanical thermostatic valves that control the flow of the UFH.
With the wired thermostat set as a separate heat zone, it controls the valves just fine but it doesn't know how to communicate with the "main" thermostat to request heat from the boiler. If I change the thermostat to behave as a "wireless sensor" it does turn on the boiler when it needs to but it doesn't open/close the valves anymore.
Is there a way to make the thermostat do both the live switch and the connection to the main thermostat or do I need to wire up the UFH thermostat to the boiler too?
