Radiator valve angles

I have a couple of radiators in my home with TRVs that are at a 45 degree angle - so neither horizontal nor vertical. The Tado smart TRVs on these both have a spanner icon displaying but no other error code so was wondering if the 45 degree angle could be the problem.

Has anyone had similar issues or know if Tado's smart TRVs have to be EITHER horizontally or vertically fitted in order to work properly?

    Yes, in the passed I had a rad with a valve at 45˚ had no issues, the spanner icon means the SRT is not mounted correctly, make sure you have twisted it into the locked position correctly, and the screw nut is tightly screwed down into position.

    Try removing the battery's and wait 5 seconds, then reinsert the battery's and reattach the SRT, so it can calibrate the valve position.
