Home area shape and geolocation.
Unless I'm missing some obvious features, what I've found is that currently the home area for geolocation is a simple circle set from your house, could it be drawn on the map to be more specific to the area you live.
I.e my missus works close to home which is within our correct recommended home circle. If you could draw the area yourself in a polygon for example you could draw around an area to instruct tado to disregard there so it doesn't think you are home all day and keeps the heating on.
Or create a second circle within the home circle and set that area to away?
Id image another scenario would be if your home is very close to your kids school and thinks they are home all day.
Alternatively, could you use geolocation to turn heating on when you leave a designated area, i.e. I work far outside the recommended home area range, because of where my missus works our home area is very small so the heating wont turn on until I'm practically pulling on the drive.

tado° similar to other devices relies on your phone in regards to geolocation. A simple circle is the easiest method to estimate your location. In theory tado° should recognize your home network, once your device connects to home WiFi (or leaves it) a correct location status will be set. However, there is a glitch (Apple iOS devices) confirmed by tado° that affects this functionality. Your home WiFi is ignored, making the location detection based only on GPS (not accurate)

Thank you

I can see one problem with this. GPS location isn't accurate inside buildings hence why you have a circle around the house larger than your house.
Tado could in theory set up an exclusion zone in your home area but this could cause issues depending on how bad the GPS signal is inside. The recommended 440yds I'd guess allows for you being in the proximity of your home rather than specifically inside. On the ground floor of my home GPS accuracy is between 100 and 230m. Outside that accuracy can be within less than a meter.

Hi@mojomoomoo Overall GPS is surely sufficient for this? i use other GPS based apps and they work well, appreciate it wont be as accurate in other areas.
If you could use geolocation for areas well outside your home area, i.e. work place, heating could turn on when you leave and be ready when your home, currently it doesn't do that with the single home area circle set close to home.

@slsmd yeah it's fine for normal use and does work fine for me when i and the wife are out the heating does turn off.
I'm just saying for the situation you described, your misses working close to home or kids in school close to home it may see them as being home all day. When my kids go to school they will be within our home location <440m so this won't work for me then. Will have to send them to boarding school. 🤣0 -
@mojomoomoo boarding school will be cheaper than the cost of heating their rooms all day will be these days 😂
