I would pay to make tado HomeKit compatible
As many of you know, tado is not working with HomeKit as long as it doesn’t allow to resume the heating schedules after any single change made with HomeKit.
I understand tado likes to sell subscriptions to provide interesting features to users, and it’s fair enough.
However, the problem is that tado app, even though offering very nice features, will never be able to compete with the fully integrated HomeKit system. Indeed, the tado app presents, in my case, the following inconvenient compared to a real HomeKit integration:
- drains significantly the iPhone battery compared to the native and battery-friendly HomeKit,
- needs to be installed and programmed on every child phone, which is impossible to manage and/or to maintain and readjust when needed,
- when I program fully automatic scenes switching on or off rooms lights and heating, HomeKit makes it feasible with eve systems and Philips hue for example, but not with tado. So I should continually use my tado app, and same for my children, plus other apps for the lights, instead of having a centralised system working for my whole family and programmed safely by myself with my phone only.
So what ? I guess many users like me refrain to replace all their TRV with tado for this reason.
I would pay the tado subscription in full if only it would allow me to use it fully within HomeKit.
Instead I have to keep one room fitted with tado and all my children’s rooms with eve system. This is the only way I can reliably manage their lighting and heating automatically.
Again it’s not about avoiding the subscription, and it’s a pity because the tado valve is of a much better quality than other brands (eve for instance) and works remarkably well with the wireless temperature sensor addon…
With kind regards 😉
