Worcester Greenstar Boiler always on

Hi

Anyone with any experience or solution for the following:

Woke this morning to the house melting hot as the gas boiler was firing away. The smart schedule was set to heat to 16oC overnight (app indicated that no call for heating had been made in that time) however House was sitting at 23oC and boiler appears to be firing away continuously. I have tried a hard reset of the boiler and the Tado Extension Kit as well as restarts of all tado devices (Extension, Controller, bridge). I have set the app to turn off all rooms however we still appear to be heating and I’m at a loss of what to do next? Has it anything to do with the daylight saving time change last night (we have had this setup for at least 4 years and have never had a problem like this before)?

Tado Control Unit, bridge, extension kit v2

  • @MartyBo did you resolve this? I have the same issue.

  • @stubbs sorry I missed your reply. We did resolve it at the time. Though I can’t quite remember the step that worked in the end. We are experiencing the same issue again today (though I think since Thursday but it has been so cold outside we haven’t fully noticed).

I had thought after the steps I took above I forced the app to full heat. Which then acknowledged the call to heat then I asked the app to turn off heating so that it acknowledged the call to stop. Then I restarted the schedule. I think this is what worked, however quickly tried that this morning and it appeared to briefly work before all radiators were piping hot again (with no call to heat from the app).

I think originally I might have put it down to the update on iOS at the time as @GrayDav4276 suggested. And I note there was an update earlier this week so I’m still not sure if the two are connected.

Did you resolve this issue as well - what steps worked for you? (Thinking this May now be something that we will have to deal with periodically which is a bit of a shame).

    Thanks,
    Martin

Something very strange going on with my Tado app. After resolving the recent always on issue. It appears to have started again today. I note though that I’m running beta iOS so I’m going to try and roll back to standard release in case the iOS beta updates are the issue here

(Edit) it now appears to be heating the home when the hot water is on regardless of weather there is a call to heat or not. I’ve manually turned off hot water until I can get to the bottom of it as I’m back to thinking it’s a Tado software issue
  • Have you checked for a sticking zone controller valve?? The motors can go in them after a while so if yours is stuck open then the radiators will heat no matter what calls for heat. If your domestic hot water works the same as ours it will keep asking for heat until it gets above the set temp (65 deg on ours for legionella) - if your zone valve is stuck open and heating the entire house then it will be stealing the energy from the DHW and slowing/stopping that from getting to temp. Check that your zone controller valve motors when there is a call for heat. If its one of the relatively standard honeywell ones you can motor it manually to check the system.
