Why Energy IQ is so bad?

Hey. I am pretty new to Tado.
I have Tado X with opentherm termostate.

I provided meter reading frequently. I provided few of them but here is intresting point regardless of then the Energy IQ is incorrect and seems to underestimate the consumption.

So I provided reading on 1st January, then few more and last one on 18th.
On 19th I checked Energy IQ and it reported 11m3 difference which is 30% of usage.

The question is why?
There is no estimation required as all data is provided.

V3+ also has the same problems. It's needs more work on the algorithms, not this a priority ATM, as they have other issues to sort out. I suggest you rely on the information from utility company website or app.

  • It is not about me relaying at this informations.
It is more about charging you a fee for something is completely useless.
To be fair if you have data provided then you don't need any algorithm you just do simple calculation.
@royi what are other issues you are aware off?

I have a separate water tank and the system is unable to distinguish between hot water being heated and the heating coming on, it just doesn't make sense. I agree, it doesn't worth the fee.

  • Since the latest update in Jan 2025, energy IQ showed a spike in consumption, like 60€ per room out of 5 mid month, which is unrealistic and unreasonable. So I chose to get the beta version, same results on android and ios .

My smart meter provides more accurate energy consumption data than the Energy IQ function, it is useless. (I’ve already entered all the requested data like tariff and billing into the app)
