Is anyone else experiencing a slow response to commands?

My system has been setup for almost 2 years now without any major issues but in the last couple of days the response to a heat command or a simple blink is taking ages.

I tested it throughout yesterday evening and noticed that as the evening progressed the response times became quicker and by midnight they were almost instant.

Nothing has changed in my home regarding electronic devices so I’m thinking it’s got to be something to do with the server which is struggling with demand now everyone has turned on their heating.

I would like to know if it’s just me or if this is a wider problem

    Hello everyone,

Thank you for your contributions. We can confirm that a server issue occurred yesterday evening.

We have now deployed fixes and are monitoring the issue.

    Sorry for the delay.

  • definitely noticed much slower reaction times, is there a fix?

  • Yes, plus the reaction time to turn the boiler on or off is massively increased. Many rooms are getting a lot hotter before the system turns the boiler off. I can turn off all rooms on the app and I still hear the wired thermostat click on and fire the boiler.

I asked if there is a server lag or similar issue, but had no response from tado. My internet is fine.

I'm in the process of reverting to my old Drayton thermostats until tado respond with a fix.

  • We also noticed some lag very recently (last 1 or few days) and are investigating.

  • Finally, perhaps we have some light at the end of the tunnel?

  • I had the same problem yesterday and this morning, and after a tado bridge restart the times came back to normal.

  • Recent email update says a fix has been applied and Tado are monitoring

  • Sorry to report but there is still a lag of about +/- 15 seconds for any command to be executed including the blink. Located in the UK and reset the gateway as well.

@Rob I've not been doing much in the way of manual control recently so can't comment on those response times, however I've just been navigating around the app looking at the room graphs, and they are really slow to load... Circa 10 seconds to load. It used to be almost instant.

I have also still a lag when i change the tempetemperature or let display blink, say "Hi". Also see that today around 3:55pm(Dutch Time) it was suddenly offline. Is not working like it used to. Response is very slow.

    Please fix it.

Just tried the blink display on several of my devices and none responded at all. Again, this was normally almost instant.

Definitely something not right with the server given how many people are still observing performance issues.

It was rectified but problem seems to have reoccurred and a significant delay is now evident again. A simple blink is not responding for several minutes. Come on Tado, sort this out
  • I too am still experiencing delays responding to commands. The blink command is taking up to 20 seconds whereas previously it was near instantaneous.
  • Is this why my heating doesn't come on sometimes? Waken up to a 13 dgr house. It all shows as running but no heat to rads. All kicks in when I run a tap weirdly, can't get to the bottom of it. Is this maybe the reason or anyone else had this issue?

    @Emcee , @Rob

Just in case you've not seen this, the issue does appear to have returned. Timed a "blink display" from tapping the app to the TRV responding and it was 1m13s. Yesterday was 5s

@siallwhite77 , I assume this is a combi boiler system? Given that you get heat in your rads when you run the hot water, sounds like something has failed in the boiler rather than this being a Tado issue. Probably need to get a heating engineer to look at it

@davidlyall I forwarded these comments to our app developers. So it should be on their radar.

  • IV had the boiler looked at on more than one occasion, all's good with it🤷
  • I put in a new mesh WiFi system on the 19th november with the tado bridge connected to a hub. It all seemed to be working fine until I was out of the house later and tried turning the heating on and it said I was offline. At the time I thought it was the new WiFi system and came back and switched the tado bridge back to my old system. Eventually got the heating to turn on. I had guests and they were cold !!

Now looking at this thread it may not be my new WiFi setup. I had noticed slower responses, especially to trvs, a thermostat and the relay which were in very close proximity to the bridge.
Now will see if I can get bridge on to my new
    WiFi setup.
There are aspects to tado and any smart system that I do not like. For one, relying in their servers, so what happens if there is a problem at their end like the other day ? And it goes on longer ?

Also I don't like using the smart trvs on all my rads because I don't like how they can call for heat and turn my boiler on even to just heat one room. I have guests staying who have twisted the whole TRV off the rad leaving the valve fully open giving false readings, so they are not user friendly. I prefer to put ordinary trvs in bedrooms for easier control of heating and keep the smart ones in other areas.
I still like the system and a few more temperature readers should do it for my house. But I'll keep my old trvs and wired boiler controller just in case.

This is definitely still an issue @Emcee @Rob I have been moving devices all round the house, doing multiple resets and spending more than I should be on this, assuming it was my problem to then see this thread and others having the same issue.

I cant even get my TRV's to blink without having to wait minutes everything is just painfully slow

I’m getting no where with Tado and the latest suggestion is that because my schedules are all set to the same time to come on it’s overloading the server. I can’t believe that is what they are suggesting and getting very frustrated by this ongoing issue. Come on Tado, your reputation is getting damaged in each passing hour.

So glad I have found this, we have gone mad trying to figure out what is happening with our system. Woke up on Wednesday 20th Nov with no heating, changed batteries, restarted system etc etc and suddenly it was working....no I'm putting my 3 children to bed and 2 of there rooms are not working. What is Tado doing about this issue?

Also posted in other thread about this issue.

Experiencing painfully slow response times on a system that, since installation, has worked almost instantaneously.

Wasted time trying to 'fix' a system after I got home and my partner said that the heating wasn't working. Little did he know that it was working, but he just had to wait about two minutes for heating to respond and come on after asking Alexa to set the room temperature.

    Clearly a 'server side' issue.

    Sort this out Tado please!

So I'm experiencing slightly different effects to some people I think. My smart schedule is working fine (touch wood), however loading the graphs in the app is really slow and hitting blink display takes over a minute for the devices to respond. I assume, therefore, if I were to perform a manual control action via the app that would be similarly slow, though I've not tried that as I've no need to.

Tado definitely still have an issue. I wonder if the servers are struggling to keep up with demand…
