If you put the wired thermostat in a virtual room, you have no benefits of it. You should put it in the living room and make it measuring device for the living room and set it as zone controller for all the other rooms.

    Otherwise keep your old thermostat

    D01 stands for Digital-01, Opentherm.
But why bother, as you said everything is working fine in terms of driving the boiler.
And I think you overthink it way too far.
First, every physical room with tado equipment installed should correspond to a room in the app. No virtual rooms needed. So on your example two rooms: living room and bedroom. Forget about storage as that has no tado stuff.
Bedroom contains 1 knob. This is the measuring device (meettoestel). Zonecontroller (zoneregelaar) is the thermostat.
Living room contains three knobs and the thermostat. Thermostat is measuring device and zonecontroller for the room.
Control temp in the bedroom by turning the knobs or adjust using the app. Control temp in living room by adjusting any knob or thermostat or by using the app.
Storage room will heat only if both the traditional knobs is open and the boiler is on because bedroom or living room must be heated.
